Business Development Sales Representative - Restoration Industry

Voda Cleaning & Restoration . This role focuses on proactively developing new business in the restoration sector and building strategic partnerships. Location: Northern New Jersey; territory includes Morris County, parts of Somerset, most of Essex, all of Warren, and most of Hunterdon Counties, with main coverage areas in Morristown, Bridgewater, Montclair, Summit, Basking Ridge, West Orange, and surrounding communities. The primary focus of the role is 80-90% new business development through cold calling and in-person visits (route sales), serving as the "face of Voda" on the road and driving opportunities while cultivating long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
Join at least one BNI-like networking group that meets weekly (e.g., 7:00 AM).
Engage in trade shows, community events, and networking opportunities (e.g., setting up a table at a Plumbing Supply Store).
Identify and target referral sources such as insurance agents, property managers, real estate agents, and emergency response teams; engage insurance brokers (residential and commercial).
Conduct sales calls and schedule strategic meetings with potential partners.
Present to prospective organizations like BNI, Community Business Alliance, and other networking groups.
Lead generation activities – self-motivated.
Customer Relationship Management
Regular engagement: Maintain consistent communication with existing customers through phone calls and in-person visits to foster strong relationships.
On-the-road role: Spend a minimum of four days a week driving to appointments and cold calling prospective clients.
Database management: Ensure the contact database remains accurate and up-to-date to support effective communication and sales tracking.
Sales Administration
Develop and maintain organized sales route records via Workiz; input daily activities with weekly recaps.
Prepare and submit weekly and monthly sales reports.
Actively participate in weekly sales meetings.
Qualifications
Experience: 3-4 years of relationship-based sales experience; experience engaging with plumbers, property managers, real estate agents, insurance brokers and agents, etc.
Education: Associate degree in business, marketing, or a related field (bachelor’s degree preferred).
Skills: Relationship selling; market insight; financial proficiency (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow); analytical skills; technical competence with MS Office and CRM tools (e.g., Workiz).
Personal Traits: Positive and driven; effective communicator; team-oriented; adaptable and resilient; self-motivated.
Compensation Salary/Commission Range:
$35,000 - $150,000+
with quarterly bonuses for hitting monthly targets. Travel reimbursement at IRS standard rate; company car after successful 4 months; uncapped commission opportunities.
