Responsibilities As a Cloud Support Engineer Senior you will provide a broad and experienced range of technical support services for cloud-based applications, utilizing deep technical knowledge for all supported systems and tech stacks. You will support the DevTooling shared service, which provides a suite of 13 development and deployment tools (e.g., GitLab, JFrog, Jira, Confluence, SonarQube) hosted in AWS.

Work independently and proficiently, under minimal guidance, to provide experienced technical assistance and operational support for a suite of application development and deployment tools hosted within AWS. Plan, schedule, and arrange own activities to accomplish objectives; work is generally only reviewed for completeness.

Directly engage with users (e.g., developers within the Federal Reserve Banks) to resolve complex system and technical issues within the DevTooling services, coordinating with stakeholders and other teams for third-tier support, monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and standard maintenance.

Maintain software currency and manage vulnerabilities for the DevTooling services, including regular upgrades and patches following standard SDLC processes.

Provide rotational 24x7 on-call support as necessary, guide other team members on critical production issues, perform data analysis, capacity planning, and execute contingency plans.

Collaborate with DevOps Engineers to understand software products and enhancements, advise on infrastructure impacts, and help define configuration changes.

Serve as a proficient subject-matter expert for DevTooling services, proactively preventing and troubleshooting service availability and performance issues, and resolving user technical issues.

Manage and administer AWS cloud environments, including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, policy governance, and security; create standards for large-scale distributed systems focused on operability.

Identify operational metrics and data to support dashboards; test and ensure infrastructure components meet performance and capacity standards; collaborate with the SRE team to implement dashboards, automation, and optimization.

Provide knowledge sharing, feedback, and coaching to team members; lead complex assignments requiring coordination across engineers; drive plans to improve individual and team performance.

Education and Experience

Associate degree and 7 years of related work experience OR

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related work experience OR

Master’s degree and 3 years of related work experience

Knowledge & Skills

Advanced baseline knowledge of AWS Cloud Platform technologies, application tech stack infrastructure, and production support practices including CloudWatch, CloudTrail, ECS, Lambda, Canaries, DynamoDB, RDS, PostgreSQL, S3, API Gateway, Elastic Load Balancer, OpenSearch, Grafana, AWS X-Ray, SQS, and AWS FIS.

Familiarity with administration of tools such as GitLab, JFrog, SonarQube, and the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket).

Support production operational needs using GitLab, Terraform (preferred), Grafana, OpenSearch, Docker, CI/CD pipelines and version control.

Proficiency in coding languages such as Python, Go, Node.js, .NET, Java; Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code; Alerts and Monitoring as Code.

Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and Bash scripting; ability to write, debug, and optimize scripts for automation and system administration.

Familiarity with deployment patterns, ITIL framework, resiliency concepts, disaster recovery, and chaos engineering.

Ability to communicate complex technical analysis to non-technical audiences and to read and comprehend complex technical documentation.

Ability to follow and document procedures; work independently and provide feedback to team members.
