Overview
Medical Science Liaison, Neuroscience (NY, NJ, PA) role at Ipsen. This field-based scientific medical expert engages with national and regional thought leaders, investigators, and healthcare providers to exchange scientific insights, support clinical research, and facilitate clinical trial efforts and Investigator-Sponsored Studies (ISS). The MSL delivers non-promotional, evidence-based information on Ipsen’s marketed and pipeline therapies and works to improve patient outcomes by enhancing understanding of disease states, patient and physician journeys, Ipsen products, and the broader treatment landscape. This is a field-based position covering the Tri-State territory (PA, NJ, NY). Eligible candidates must reside near a major airport within the territory.
Responsibilities
Identify, access, and develop peer-to-peer relationships with regional and national thought leaders, investigators, providers at academic and non-academic institutions, and professional organizations within the assigned geography. Demonstrate and maintain deep scientific expertise on Ipsen products and the therapeutic area, including competitive landscape and gaps in patient care. Engage in ongoing scientific exchange about the science and clinical application of Ipsen’s portfolio to external stakeholders to gather insights about current practice, treatment landscapes, and emerging data. Assist with Company Sponsored Studies (CSS), including investigator/site identification, site initiation visits, education to support enrollment, and feedback regarding operational management to ensure optimal site selection and performance. Partner with Medical Affairs and Medical Information services to ensure accurate medical information delivery; respond to on- and off-label questions with integrity and compliance with regulatory guidelines, policies, and procedures. Represent Ipsen and the US Medical Affairs Team at scientific conferences and continuing medical education events. Respond to unsolicited requests regarding interest in investigator-sponsored studies (ISS) and support ISS submissions, initiation, and closure through internal processes. Lead the development and execution of a regional territory plan. Train and facilitate speakers on Ipsen’s products. Balance all work to enhance performance and execute local medical strategies within planned timelines. Engage in continuous learning within the therapeutic area and participate in upskilling programs related to Ipsen molecules, products, disease states, and relevant business topics. Differentiate Ipsen as a valued scientific partner through innovative initiatives, coordinated strategy, scientific communication, and patient-centricity. Build and maintain close working relationships with cross-functional team members, including field-based and home office teams, marketing, HEOR, medical/clinical operations, while complying with applicable requirements. Support cross-functional teams to ensure patient-focused operations and respond to internal and external requests to discuss specific situations, providing Medical Affairs support as needed.
Knowledge & Experience (essential)
2-3 years of related MSL work experience. Experience in Neurology, Pain, Migraine/Headache. Knowledge of Neurology, Pain, Migraine/Headache customer segments and market dynamics. Excellent planning, presentation, and written communication skills. Ability to develop and maintain credible scientific relationships with top experts in the field. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function on a cross-functional team. Ability to synthesize and communicate medical information clearly. Knowledge of PhRMA, OIG, and guidelines relating to compliant medical communications. Understanding of regulatory environment and clinical research basics. Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to travel 50-70% depending on geography. Collaborative mindset and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Knowledge & Experience (preferred)
Experience with product launches and life-cycle management is strongly preferred.
Education / Certifications (essential)
Doctoral level in the sciences required (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, Nursing or equivalent).
Language (essential)
Fluent in English.

Compensation & Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000-$220,000. This role is eligible to participate in short-term and long-term incentive programs. Ipsen offers a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) with company contributions, medical/dental/vision coverage, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, parental leave, paid time off, and other well-being programs. The pay range shown reflects base pay at posting; actual compensation depends on factors including education and experience.
