Tax Controversy Senior – part of our National Tax Department (NTD) which serves high-profile, national and multinational clients with domestic and international tax planning and advisory services. Responsibilities
Assist in resolving Client IRS account issues, including: Drafting Forms 2848 and 8821 for client signature Reviewing IRS notices, tax returns, and transcripts to identify issues on the account Contacting the IRS as a 2848 or 8821 representative to request collection holds, first-time abatements, review the account with an IRS agent, and advocate for resolution of the identified issue Drafting correspondence to the IRS, including: Reasonable Cause penalty abatements; Form 843, Claim for Refund and Request for Abatement; Form 12153, Request for Collection Due Process or Equivalent Hearing; Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund Other miscellaneous tasks, such as: Tax research (Internal Revenue Code, CFR, Revenue Rulings, etc); Assist with Client Representation and project management within the context of an IRS examination Skills And Attributes For Success
Researching tax issues to develop effective tax resolution strategies Translating complex data from a range of sources into client-ready insights and deliverables Building effective long-term relationships with clients and understanding their unique needs Communicating complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree Ability to obtain a CPA certification or licensed attorney designation Work experience in government or a professional tax organization Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Ability to adapt work style to collaborate with internal and client team members Willingness to travel as needed in a balanced hybrid environment What We Look For

The base salary range is $81,500 to $134,600; for NYC Metro, WA, and CA (excluding Sacramento) ranges are $97,800 to $153,100.
