Senior Principal Applied Scientist - OCI/GEN AI (ChatBot) At Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we build the future of the cloud for Enterprises as a diverse team of fellow creators and inventors. The OCI Generative AI science team is responsible for growing OCI’s Generative AI, Agent and Analytics services. Our goal is to build foundational technologies and enable customers to apply AI to solve their business problems with Oracle’s assistance and expertise in Generative AI and Analytics.

In this role, you will have an opportunity to work with teams of applied scientists, engineers, and product managers to deliver high quality services backed by Generative AI models and Analytics solutions that delight our customers with the confidence that their data is safe and protected. We are seeking an exceptional applied scientist to work on innovative Generative AI & Analytics modeling research and development efforts. As a Senior Principal Applied Scientist in the Generative AI Science team, you will be architecting, building and deploying cutting-edge, high-quality AI models and solutions at scale. You will work with a team of world-class scientists and collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers and product managers to deploy these globally for real-world enterprise use-cases at the largest scale. You will play a key role in shaping the future of Generative AI & Analytics at Oracle and across the industry. Your contributions will be pivotal in delivering our new Generative AI-powered services for large-scale enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

Research and Development: Conduct in-depth research on conversational Agentic AI systems, from design and development to evaluation.

Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team of scientists and engineers.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate GenAI, Agentic, and conversational capabilities into various applications and products.

Innovation: Identify new opportunities for conversational AI, Agentic AI, Analytics, and related technologies.

Stay Updated: Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends and advancements in the above fields.

Qualifications & Experience

PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Linguistics, or a related field with a dissertation, thesis, or final project centered on Machine Learning or Deep Learning; 10+ years of relevant experience preferred

Alternatively, a Master’s degree in one of the above fields with 12+ years of relevant experience

Strong publication record, including as a lead author in top-tier conferences or journals

Extensive experience in deep learning, NLP, and Agentic AI

Proven track record of leading research and development projects

Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and architectures

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Strong leadership and communication abilities

Compensation & Benefits US: Hiring Range in USD from: $139,400 - $291,800 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral. Oracle maintains broad salary ranges to reflect knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, and different products and divisions. Candidates are typically placed within the range based on factors including internal peer equity.
