College Work Study- Money Management (M&M) Center position at Daley College, City Colleges of Chicago (CCC). The Money Management Center will serve as a resource to prospective and new students, providing financial literacy and support for applying to financial aid, public benefits, and other resources. The FWS program places students in areas aligned with their field of study to gain relevant experience while earning wages to support education and living expenses. FWS opportunities exist in academic departments, laboratories, libraries, administrative offices, student centers, and off-campus locations. Note:
The position aims to assist with expanding civic engagement initiatives, including voter registration and non-partisan voter education programming, as part of the Office’s goals. Responsibilities
Assist Student Financial Aid Advisor in outreach activities, such as Resource Fairs, financial literacy events, Financial Aid events, and campus-related events. Assist students with project-related duties. Assist in the completion of financial aid applications and public benefits processes. Become adept at understanding financial aid programs and public benefit options to meet a wide range of student needs. Serve community members seeking information on applying for financial aid or wraparound services. Provide services such as confidential financial coaching, evaluating financial needs, and creating a personalized financial plan for college. Help students learn to identify and track expenses, access free tax preparation software, and apply for governmental wraparound services (e.g., SNAP, Medicaid, Child Care Assistance). Identify additional financial resources such as scholarships, financial aid, and part-time employment/work-study opportunities. Help students gain knowledge to obtain and understand their personal credit reports/scores and the impact of identity theft. Assist with planning for loan repayment and debt management. Introduce students to campus and community offices that can provide aid. Learn about new business startup opportunities and related legislation. Qualifications
GPA of 2.0 Consistently maintain 6 credit hours each semester; enrolled in a degree program Satisfactory academic progress Adherence to college confidentiality policy Background and drug screening cleared Strong interpersonal skills; able to assist with online applications and research Excellent ability to make students comfortable discussing personal information Ability to prioritize student services experiences Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be 16 years or older, have a work permit consent, and be eligible to work in the United States Applicants must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours Applicants must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first-semester new students) In good standing with City Colleges of Chicago Not a current full- or part-time employee of the City Colleges of Chicago All positions are employment-at-will Note: All Peer Financial Coaches must attend a free mandatory training on peer financing, after which the College will train and certify you to speak with students and community members.
