Job Description

As a Developer III, you will play a key role in a collaborative, agile team responsible for designing and delivering scalable, enterprise-grade solutions within our domain engineering group. This team builds reusable services that solve complex logistics problems such as freight scheduling and optimized routing. You will contribute to architectural decisions, mentor junior developers, and drive continuous improvement in development practices.

You will work closely with product owners and stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into robust technical solutions that support Expeditors' mission to set the standard for excellence in global logistics.

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Qualifications: Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years of professional software development experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience

Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming

Solid understanding of software design patterns and architectural principles

Experience with SQL and relational database concepts

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies

Proven experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Java tools and frameworks: Maven, JUnit, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA

Familiarity with front-end technologies: React or Angular, TypeScript, RxJS

Experience with cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud

Understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures (e.g. Apache Kafka)

Experience with containerization and orchestration tools: Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Terraform

Comfortable working in UNIX/Linux and Windows environments

Experience mentoring junior developers or leading small technical initiatives

Additional Information

Expected base salary: $110,000 to $175,000
