Overview

We are in search of an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time position in our Toledo and Maumee Facilities. The individual will work under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Charge Nurses. The Detox Nurse is instrumental in guiding the patient through their detox process per the physician's orders, educating the patient about their condition, and assisting the physician and ARNP with accurate clinical reporting of patient conditions, status, and proper clinical actions.

Qualifications

  • Associates in Nursing
  • 1+ years of experience as an RN in a detox or similar treatment facility environment
  • State RN license in good standing
  • Maintains current CPR certification
  • Detox and Psychiatric Nursing experience required
  • Experienced in administering medication orally, subcutaneously, and IM
  • Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of withdrawal pain and of a critically dangerous medical emergency and respond appropriately
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to respond physically with swiftness to a patient emergency; calm and timely during emergencies
  • Familiarity with ASAM criteria preferred
  • Familiarity with JCAHO Standards of Care for Behavioral Health
  • Electronic Health Record experience

Duties

  • Administers prescribed medications, as directed by the medical team
  • Makes independent decisions within the scope of their license involving patient care
  • Uses sound judgment in informing the Chief Nursing Officer/Charge Nurse and the Medical Director of decisions and communication
  • Monitors and records all aspects of the patient\'s care in the Electronic Health System
  • Nursing assessments during intake
  • Shift assessments including CIWA and COWS
  • Document changes in patient condition and progress; discharge assessments and paperwork
  • Follows Universal Infection Control Precautions and ensures staff do as well
  • Reconciles medications at end of each shift and maintains logs for controlled substances per regulations
  • Ensures proper handoff at shift change with necessary information to maintain high standards of care
