As the first engineering hire, you'll work side-by-side with the founders to take our systems from zero to one-leading technical decision-making, shipping greenfield features, and driving innovation across the stack.

We're looking for an exceptional Founding Software Engineer to help architect and build the core data platform powering the future of e-commerce customer engagement. As the first engineering hire, you'll work side-by-side with the founders to take our systems from zero to one-leading technical decision-making, shipping greenfield features, and driving innovation across the stack.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a high-impact startup with product-market fit, strong early traction, and $2.5M in seed funding. You'll work remotely with a small, fast-moving, and deeply ambitious team.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement scalable systems that handle large volumes of messages, events, and user interactions
- Build data-heavy infrastructure for use cases like attribution, personalization, and customer data unification
- Develop AI-driven tools, such as creative co-pilots and hyper-personalization engines
- Collaborate closely with the founding team on technical strategy and product direction
- Own key architectural decisions and lay the groundwork for system reliability and performance
- Provide mentorship as the engineering team grows, contributing to a culture of craft, clarity, and high agency
- Languages & Frameworks: TypeScript, Node.js, Golang, React
- Cloud Infrastructure: GCP
- Focus Areas: Data pipelines, analytics infra, AI/ML systems, event-driven architecture, messaging systems
- 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Proven track record in 0-to-1 product development-you've owned key systems or features, not just contributed on a team
- Worked at VC-backed startups (Seed-Series B), ideally in e-commerce or data-centric platforms
- Built or contributed to side projects, open-source work, or indie products (bonus for that "builder energy")
- Expert in Node.js and TypeScript
- Strong familiarity with event-driven systems, data pipelines, or personalization tools
- Able to move quickly while writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code
- Comfortable working across the stack and picking up new tools/languages as needed
- Clear thinker with excellent communication and decision-making ability
- Displays high agency and ownership-doesn't wait for direction to get things moving
- Obsessed with craft-you take pride in elegant, reliable, and performant software
- Ready to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with high expectations and tight feedback loops
