What You’ll Do
- Receiving: Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, packing slips, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Mark materials with identifying information. Open bales, crates, and other containers. Verify and record amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Drive equipment to transport items within the warehouse. Enter records into the computer. Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Put away and storage: Sort and place material or items on racks, shelves, or bins according to size, style, or product code. Sort and store stocked goods in the warehouse. Verify product and document discrepancies on logs and re-pick as needed.
- Picking and packing: Assemble customer orders from stock, place orders on pallets or shelves, or convey orders to packing/shipping areas. Ensure accuracy by verifying picked products and entering data as required.
- Loading and routing: Consolidate freight for shipping and load trucks for delivery to customers. Verify shipping method and facilitate shipping tickets. Manage delayed release tickets and communicate oversized loads to freight carriers. Ensure shipping routes are maintained.
- Pipe yard operations: Receive pipe and conduit and prepare bundles for shipping orders.
- Inventory and documentation: Use computer systems to enter records; maintain accuracy of tickets and notes from customer specifications.
What You’ll Bring
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED; or
- Three months or more related experience and/or training; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous forklift/cherry picker experience; basic safety knowledge (e.g., proper lifting techniques).
Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Perform basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; calculate rates, ratios, and percentages; interpret bar graphs.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet.
Physical Demands: Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and slide packages up to 75 lbs; frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, and continuous use of hands; occasional lifting over 75 lbs with assistance. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
