General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greet customers, follow company standards, maintain a clean work area, and ensure proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks in specific situations to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Responsibilities

• Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
• Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
• Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times.
• Assist customers by being register-trained, helping with merchandise, answering questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner, and greeting customers throughout the store.
• Provide prompt and courteous responses to Customer Service needs; respond to service calls and involve Store Leadership as needed.
• Represent and support the Ross brand at all times.
• Perform cleaning tasks and replenish restroom supplies to maintain clean and orderly store areas.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company's dress code.
• Complete daily cleaning, sizing, and recovery tasks to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to company standards.
• Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items according to monthly presentation guidelines.
• Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
• Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
• Follow procedures for cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions; maintain accuracy with bankable tenders.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency and maximize productivity by following store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills

• Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use store equipment, spend up to 100% of time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, lift up to 25 pounds (20 pounds for stockroom shifts), reach, and stoop as required.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders as needed.
