General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to perform a range of functions in all areas of the store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure environment; keep exits clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow associates using company recognition programs.
  • Assist customers as needed — register-trained; answer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greet customers with eye contact and a smile and thank them at checkout.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to customers; respond to service calls immediately and involve Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restrooms) to maintain store areas.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies for identification, processing, and disposal of MOS merchandise.
  • Follow policies for cash, check, card transactions, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tender handling.
  • Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and follow store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use store equipment including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; occasionally lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
