General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform additional tasks in specific situations to help achieve our customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet Customers and recognize fellow Associates using Company programs.
- Assist Customers with merchandise; be register-trained; answer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly "hello" or "thank you" at every register transaction.
- Provide prompt, courteous responses to Customer calls; handle issues and escalate to Store Leadership as needed.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces) and replenish restroom supplies to maintain neat, safe areas and merchandise presentation.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
- Execute daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, well-maintained store.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items to monthly presentation guidelines while maintaining brand familiarity within departments.
- Understand Loss Prevention, the Shortage Highway, the Store Protection Specialist (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise; demonstrate integrity and honesty.
- Follow MOS policies, identify MOS merchandise, process and notify leadership for disposals.
- Follow policies on cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy in handling tenders.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom associates: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range for this role is $15.00 - $15.50. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

In addition, all Full-Time Associates, including FT Retail Associate, Area Supervisor, Assistant Store Manager and Store Manager, are eligible for extended benefits offered including Medical/Dental/Vision Health Insurance, Legal Insurance, Vacation Buy, Flexible Spending Account, Health Savings Account, Life/ADD Insurance, Long-Term Disability, Enhanced Maternity and Parental Leave Benefit, Vacation Pay accrued at a rate of 10 days/year after eligibility commences, 9 Personal and Company Holidays. AS, ASM and SM Associates in Stores and Exempt Corporate and Buying Office roles are also eligible to receive a Bonus based on individual and business performance.
