General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in everything you do.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assist Customers as needed—register-trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly "hello"; thank customers at every register transaction.
- Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customers; respond to Service calls immediately and involve Store Leadership as needed.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting high-touch areas) to maintain a clean store and customer areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
- Keep the store neat and merchandised to standards; perform daily sizing and recovery per company best practice.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per guidelines to support monthly presentation standards.
- Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, the Shortage Highway, and Store Protection standards where applicable.
- Safeguard confidential information and company assets; act with integrity and honesty in all interactions.
- Follow MOS (Miss Out of Stock) policies and proper processing of MOS merchandise.
- Follow cash handling procedures and ensure accuracy in transactions.
- Demonstrate urgency to perform duties efficiently and minimize steps in the workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders; some assignments may require other qualifications.
- Stockroom/shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
