General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks in specific situations to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment. Keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; remains friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers in various ways, including being register-trained, helping with merchandise, and answering questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greets Customers and thanks them during transactions.
  • Provides prompt responses to Customer needs and calls a member of Store Leadership as needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain store, customer, and Team areas.
  • Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and adheres to monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information, cash and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies and handles cash, checks, and refunds with accuracy.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and maximize productivity.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of shift.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
  • Occasional additional qualifications may apply for certain assignments.
  • Stockroom shifts: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
