General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe environment; keeps egress clear to emergency exits; reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times.
- Assists Customers as needed: is register-trained, assists with merchandise, answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets Customers throughout the Store and thanks them at checkout.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to Service calls immediately and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters/mirrors, replenishing restrooms, disinfecting high-touch areas) to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
- Performs sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, organized store and well-maintained merchandising.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandising items per monthly guidelines and maintaining brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS policies, identifies MOS merchandise, processes disposals with Store Leadership approval.
- Handles cash, checks, charge cards, and refunds with accuracy and according to policy; maintains awareness of banking procedures.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom associates: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
