General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, and efficiently follows all company best practice standards. The Associate maintains a clean work area at all times and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The role requires engagement in these tasks during all working hours and performing a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. Additional tasks may be assigned to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
  • Maintain a safe, secure shopping environment with clutter-free aisles and clear egress; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow Associates using Company programs.
  • Assist Customers: register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a greeting throughout the store, and say thank you at checkout.
  • Provide prompt responses to Customer needs and service calls; resolve issues courteously and involve Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters/mirrors, replenishing restrooms) and disinfect high-touch areas to maintain store areas.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per monthly guidelines and maintain brand familiarity to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, SPS (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty; safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies, identify MOS merchandise, process disposals with Store Leadership review.
  • Follow policies for cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tenders.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency to perform efficiently and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
