General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, and follows company best practice standards. Maintain a clean work area and proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and may be assigned additional tasks to achieve Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, assists with merchandise, and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and says hello throughout the store and thanks customers at checkout.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer Service calls and resolves issues courteously; involves Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restrooms) to maintain merchandise, customer and Team areas, and disinfect high-touch areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines; maintains merchandise/brand name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (SPS) where applicable, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguards confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS (Mark-Out-of-Stock) policies for identification and disposal review with Store Leadership as needed.
  • Follows policies concerning cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with tenders.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and maximize productivity by following store best practices.

Qualifications

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking and moving around the Store.
  • Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00 per hour. The range is dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, education, seniority, and location. This description is not all-inclusive and is subject to change at management’s discretion.
