General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. Responsibilities include greeting customers, maintaining a clean work area, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and performing a range of duties as needed across the store to support customer service and operations goals.
Essential Functions
- Maintain safety as the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain a safe, clutter-free sales floor with clear egress; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow associates through company programs.
- Assist customers: be register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers with eye contact and smiles; thank customers at checkout.
- Respond promptly to customer service needs and escalate to Store Leadership as needed.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks and replenish supplies to maintain store areas.
- Maintain professional appearance and dress code.
- Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat and organized store.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and present per monthly guidelines.
- Follow Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise; maintain high ethical standards.
- Follow MOS policies and proper processing of disposals; handle cash and transactions accurately.
- Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by following store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use store equipment, including PDAs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; may occasionally lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
- Stockroom shifts may require lifting more than 20 pounds.
