General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. Duties include greeting Customers, maintaining a clean work area, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and performing a range of tasks across all store areas as business needs require. Additional tasks may be assigned to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the priority; maintain a safe and secure shopping environment and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a clutter-free, safe environment and clear egress to emergency exits.
- Treat Customers and Associates with respect; be friendly and professional at all times. Recognize fellow Associates using company recognition programs.
- Assist Customers as needed — register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet customers with eye contact, a smile and a hello; say thank you at every register transaction.
- Provide prompt responses to Customer needs; respond to Service calls immediately and involve Store Leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks to maintain merchandise, customer and Team areas (sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting high-touch areas, replenishing restrooms, etc.).
- Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
- Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean and organized; merchandise per monthly presentation guidelines.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and maintain brand name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards; follow MOS policies and proper processing of disposals.
- Handle cash, checks, cards and refunds with accuracy and security; maintain appropriate awareness of bankable tender.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use store equipment, including PDAs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop; occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
