General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform additional tasks as needed to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times. Recognizes fellow Associates through Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers as needed with merchandise, answers questions, and greets Customers with eye contact and a friendly attitude throughout the store.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer service needs; handles issues in a courteous and helpful way and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain cleanliness and presentation of merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and well-merchandised store.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor per guidelines and assists Customers with brand name familiarity within departments.
  • Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, the Shortage Highway, and Store Protection standards where applicable.
  • Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies and cash handling procedures with accuracy and awareness.
  • Displays a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize unnecessary steps.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment and other assigned supplies.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
