General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear; reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times; recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers in any way necessary; register-trained; helps with merchandise; answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets Customers throughout the Store and thanks them at checkout.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer needs; responds to Service calls; handles issues courteously and with leadership involvement when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors), replenishes restroom supplies, and disinfects high-touch areas to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines while maintaining brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention Awareness, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card data, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies and proper processing and disposition of MOS merchandise with Store Leadership review.
  • Follows policies and procedures for cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, and offline transactions; maintains accuracy with tenders.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a respectful and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use store equipment, including PDAs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
