General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
- Assists Customers in any way necessary—register-trained, assists with merchandise, answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greets Customers consistently.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; handles issues in a courteous and helpful way, escalating to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks to maintain store cleanliness and sanitation; replenishes restroom supplies and disinfects high-touch areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
- Performs daily merchandising tasks to keep the store neat, clean, and organized per standards.
- Receives and expedites merchandise to the sales floor, merchandises items according to guidelines, and maintains brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understands Loss Prevention policies and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS policies for identification, processing, and disposition of MOS merchandise.
- Follows policies for cash, check, charge card, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy handling tenders.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Some assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
