General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be required to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and may be asked to perform additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy; recognizes fellow Associates using Company programs.
- Assists Customers as needed; is register-trained, helps with merchandise, answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets customers and thanks them at the register.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to customers; responds to service calls and, if needed, escalates to Store Leadership.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks to maintain store areas and replenish supplies to support a neat environment.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
- Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat and merchandised to standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per guidelines.
- Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information and merchandise.
- Follows MOS policies and proper disposal procedures, with Store Leadership review when needed.
- Follows policies concerning cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, and alarms; maintains awareness and accuracy with tenders.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment and other assigned supplies.
- Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom shifts: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
