General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

• Safety is the number one priority; practices safe behaviors in all tasks.
• Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear; report unsafe conditions.
• Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers and recognize fellow associates using company programs.
• Assist customers; be register-trained; help with merchandise and answer questions politely and knowledgeably.
• Provide prompt responses to customer needs; respond to service calls and involve store leadership as needed.
• Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
• Perform cleaning tasks and replenish supplies to maintain store and restrooms; disinfect high-touch areas as needed.
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
• Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep store neat and merchandised to standards.
• Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per guidelines and maintain brand familiarity.
• Understand Loss Prevention awareness programs and merchandise protection standards.
• Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
• Follow MOS (Machine Out-of-Stock) policies and proper disposal review with Store Leadership as needed.
• Follow cash handling, refund, and offline procedures with accuracy and awareness.
• Demonstrate urgency to perform duties efficiently and adhere to store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

• Effectively communicate with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

• Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
• Stockroom shifts may require the ability to push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
