General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company guidelines and best practices, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of tasks across store areas as business needs require, and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports any unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; engages with fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets customers with eye contact, a smile, and a greeting, and thanks them at checkout.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to service calls and escalates issues to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas to maintain merchandise, customer and team areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and efficiently merchandised.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor according to monthly presentation guidelines and maintains brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguards confidential information, cash and card data, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS (Mark-Out-of-Stock) policies, including identification, processing, and disposal with Store Leadership review and approval.
- Follows all policies and procedures concerning cash, checks, debit/credit transactions, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintains high accuracy with tender handling.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity by following Store best practices and minimizing unnecessary steps.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- Associates who work Stockroom shifts: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location.
