General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, greets all Customers courteously, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best-practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors on everything you do.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment. Keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times. Recognize fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assist Customers: registered, with merchandise, and with questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a hello; thank them at each register transaction.
  • Provide prompt responses to Customers. Respond to Service calls immediately and involve Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain a clean store and merchandising areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company dress code.
  • Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized per standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines and maintain brand familiarity within departments.
  • Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (SPS) where applicable, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies, identify MOS merchandise, process disposals with Store Leadership approval.
  • Follow policies and procedures for cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline transactions; maintain accuracy in handling tender.
  • Demonstrate urgency to perform duties efficiently and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom associates: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
