Overview
The CSIS Data Analyst/Assessor will support Diplomatic Security at the Department of State in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). CTO is the primary IT group within the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, providing many web applications and other services used by Federal and local law enforcement officers worldwide.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assessing systems for compliance with security controls throughout system development life cycle and continuous monitoring phase.
- Familiar with NIST Rev 4 and 5 security controls.
- Documenting security control implementation statements.
- Creating and understanding topology and network diagrams.
- Developing system continuous monitoring and contingency plans that identify critical mission and business functions and recovery processes.
- Working with application project teams and operations teams to complete RMF steps 1 through 3, and supporting steps 4, 5, and 6 as required.
- Producing and maintaining all required security documentation.
- Completing weekly activity reports.
- Providing recommendations for non-compliant security controls.
- Assisting project teams with registering systems in iMatrix and Xacta, and gathering evidence to close out open POAMS.
- Executing FISMA tasks including system authorization, reauthorization, Privacy Impact Assessments, security categorization, and documentation development.
- Conducting comprehensive self-assessments of security controls to evaluate their effectiveness.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education And/or Experience
- B.A. and/or B.S.
- 5-7 years of experience in system and application certifications and accreditations.
- Expertise in C&A methodologies and documentation.
- Certifications like CISM, CISSP, CAP, or equivalents.
- Experience managing all phases of C&A activities.
- Support experience with Government Agencies, preferably DOS.
- Proficiency with security software and tools.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- CISSP, CISA, or similar certifications.
- Experience with server, networking, or application administration or architecture.
- Experience with Xacta, JIRA, and ServiceNow.
- Knowledge of SDLC, project management principles, and ITIL.
- Knowledge of FAM and FAH policies.
Security Clearance
- U.S. Government SECRET clearance or ability to obtain one.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to maintain SECRET clearance.
Physical Demands
Must be able to perform in a typical office environment, including standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, operating equipment, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
