Job Summary And Qualifications

The Senior IPS Data Protection Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the data protection and information lifecycle management strategic and operational initiatives for the Information Protection & Security (IPS) department.

This person will assist in the development, oversight, and coordination of data protection-related projects and operational processes including but not limited to record retention, data protection, legal hold, data loss prevention, and data disposition efforts. In partnership with other members of the team, this person will contribute to daily operations, the execution of short/long term projects, and process improvement efforts with key stakeholders internal and external to IPS.

The Senior IPS Data Protection Analyst will work independently, with general supervision and direction, on varied and complex projects.

Major Responsibilities:

Program Support

  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of the data protection program
  • Consult on policies and procedures for physical and electronic records retention and destruction
  • Support data protection efforts such as classification, labeling, and protection within office productivity applications
  • Identify, suggest, and lead the implementation of process improvement opportunities
  • Support the Data Disposition Program by executing dispositions according to documented playbooks
  • Innovate current processes and capabilities to improve team performance and efficiency
  • Provide technical guidance to junior team members with a continuous improvement mindset geared toward reducing data risk

Operations, Training and Support

  • Perform day-to-day operational tasks within required service level agreements required to support the Data Protection Program.
  • Ensure KPIs and other operational metrics are tracked and monitored
  • Provide training and support to staff on records retention and destruction policies and procedures
  • Serve as a point of contact for records management inquiries and issues from all colleagues and Records Coordinators
  • Identify sensitive data requiring classification and labeling using telemetry and reporting
  • Identify data in need of retention labels and work with the data owner to remediate
  • Engage product owner teams in the disposition of application data using documented playbooks
  • Basic operation of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tooling and processes
  • Assist in eDiscovery and overall management of Litigation Hold data retention procedures

Destruction and Storage Management

  • Support the implementation of secure destruction processes for electronic and physical records in accordance with policies
  • Maintain documentation of destruction activities and provide reports when needed
  • Support the Shred Bin program across the enterprise including but not limited to vendor relationships, tracking financial spend, monitoring service levels, and remediating issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Information Systems preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year in records management or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in industry standard Information Protection platforms preferred, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Licenses, Certifications, & Training:

  • Knowledge of records retention laws and regulations preferred
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills required
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality required
  • Proficiency in records management software and tools preferred

Travel Required

Occasional Travel: The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis.
