Overview
The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) is seeking a qualified professional for the position of Data Integration Specialist/Research Analyst (Specialist/Analyst) to work in the Administrative Office of the MSO located in Woburn, MA. The Specialist/Analyst will support the MSO with data analytics by coordinating, streamlining, and visualizing data from across MSO departments and administration. Responsibilities include gathering, linking, and cleaning data used for reporting requirements. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and may be adjusted at management’s discretion. This is an exempt, full-time, at-will employment position that reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or their designee.
Responsibilities
- Collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting quantitative and qualitative data from disparate systems, including data warehouse, medical records, and other data repositories
- Working with internal departments to ensure accurate data collection
- Working with MSO staff to explain statistical concepts and data analytics efficiently and accurately
- Analyzing data in context, identifying patterns and forecasting trends to inform funding and policy recommendations
- Building and managing ETL processes for internal departments
- Designing reporting schemas to advance the MSO’s reporting needs
- Coordinating data sharing efforts with external researchers, including research institutions
- Preparing materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations and for required federal or state reporting
- Collaborating with Senior Data Analysts to build data integrations that address reporting needs
- Working with the Director of Fiscal Operations and CFO on grant-funded projects, reporting requirements, and budget-related initiatives
- Assisting the CFO and Director of Fiscal Operations with day-to-day operations within the fiscal department, as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the CFO
The individual chosen for the position must exercise good judgment and attention to detail, understand the confidential and sensitive nature of working in a law enforcement agency, and comply with all institutional safety and security rules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, Business/Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Data Analysis, Statistics, or a closely related field is preferred
- Proven ability to gather, synthesize, and present current research and trends in criminal justice, healthcare, and social science
- Required proficiencies: Microsoft Word, Excel
- Preferred proficiencies: SQL query, Crystal Reports, R, and Tableau
- Knowledge of industry research methodologies and techniques
- Exceptional critical thinking skills; proactive, with the ability to anticipate department needs (preferred)
- Strong written communication, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, maintaining comprehensive and cohesive records
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Must have an active valid driver’s license, the right to legally operate a motor vehicle in Massachusetts, and pass a criminal background check, which includes medical, drug (including marijuana), and psychological screenings.
Salary
