Overview
The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) is seeking a qualified professional for the position of Data Integration Specialist/Research Analyst (Specialist/Analyst) to work in the Administrative Office of the MSO in Woburn, MA. The Specialist/Analyst will support the MSO with data analytic needs by coordinating with individual departments and administration to streamline and visualize data gathered at the MSO. The Specialist/Analyst will gather, link, and clean data used for reporting requirements. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and subject to change at management’s discretion. This is an exempt, full-time, at-will position that reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or their designee.
Responsibilities of the Specialist/Analyst include, but are not limited to:
- Collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting quantitative and qualitative data from disparate systems, including data warehouses, medical records, and other data repositories
- Working with internal departments to ensure accurate data collection
- Working with MSO staff to explain statistical concepts and data analytics efficiently and accurately
- Analyzing data in context, looking for patterns and forecasting trends to inform funding and policy recommendations
- Building and managing ETL processes for internal departments
- Designing reporting schemas to advance the MSO’s reporting needs
- Working with external researchers, including research institutions, to coordinate data sharing efforts
- Preparing materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations and for required federal or state reporting
- Collaborating with Senior Data Analysts to build data integrations that quickly and effectively meet reporting needs
- Working with the Director of Fiscal Operations and CFO on grant-funded projects, reporting requirements, and other budget-related initiatives
- Assisting the CFO and Director of Fiscal Operations with day-to-day operations within the fiscal department, as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
The individual selected for the position must exercise good judgment and attention to detail and be cognizant of the confidential and sensitive nature of working in a law enforcement agency; must comply with all institutional safety and security rules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, Business/Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Data Analysis, Statistics, or a closely related field is preferred
- Proven ability to gather, synthesize, and present current research and trends in criminal justice, healthcare, and social science
- Mandatory proficiencies: Microsoft Word, Excel
- Preferred proficiencies: SQL query, Crystal Reports, R, and Tableau
- Proven knowledge of industry research methodologies and techniques
- Exceptional critical thinking skills; proactive in anticipating department needs (preferred)
- Strong written communication skills, and good organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time-management abilities
- Ability to complete multiple projects in a timely and accurate manner while maintaining comprehensive and cohesive records

Must have an active valid driver’s license, the right to legally operate a motor vehicle in Massachusetts and pass a criminal background check, which includes medical, drug (including marijuana) and psychological screenings.
Salary
Starting annual base salary is $80,800.08 plus additional incentives, bonuses and employment benefits.
