POSITION OVERVIEW:

He/She is responsible for weekly payroll runs, payroll reporting, A/P and A/R functions. Other core duties include payment of all payroll taxes, certified payroll filings, quarterly & yearly filings, and monthly union reporting.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Accountant, reporting to the Controller, is responsible for providing Accounting support and ensuring that the day-to-day Payroll, AP, AR, and other administrative functions are completed. He/She is responsible for weekly payroll runs, payroll reporting, A/P and A/R functions. Other core duties include payment of all payroll taxes, certified payroll filings, quarterly & yearly filings, and monthly union reporting.

The following key accountabilities ensure the critical success of this position:
Listed in order of importance/priority.
40 % Responsible for ensuring all weekly Payroll transactions are processed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensures that all staff receives on-time paychecks weekly.
- Audits and verifies all time keeping records of employees’ hours worked, as well as any deductions or withholdings required comply with state and federal law.
- Verifies all hours are properly allocated to the correct projects and codes.
- Works collaboratively with the Operations team to resolve payroll issues promptly.
- Initiates direct deposit.
- Ensures that all local, state, and federal laws prevailing wage and fringe benefits requirements for each project are met.
- Ensures completion of all necessary payroll compliance documentation in a timely manner.
- Processes weekly certified payroll using the required websites for each project.
- Ensures that all Subcontractors and Vendors, under AB219, submit timely Certified Payroll.
- Ensures that all employer payroll tax obligations and filings are processed and paid
- Reconciles payroll taxes to the general ledger, including W-2’s.
- Ensures that all trade hours and payments are submitted to the appropriate Trust fund, on time.
- Ensures that all cash receipt deposits are processed and monitors bank balances.
- Ensures that field operations staff receive appropriate reports, as needed.
- Help maintain the company’s financial processes
- Monthly billing to clients per schedule
- Review General Ledger Accounts to ensure that they are in balance
- Understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
- Delegate, supervise and participate in accounting department tasks, oversees the recording, tracking and reporting of financial information.
- Manages accounts payable using accounting software and other programs.
- Ensures that vendors and subcontractors are properly set up and verifying Federal Tax ID’s for year-end close out.
- Processes transactions and performs accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling general ledger accounts.
- Ensures that reoccurring invoices and employee expense reports are properly recorded.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with new and existing vendors.
- Ensures that all changes to the budget and cost codes are properly recorded.
- Weekly PGP for continuous learning
- All employees are paid on time, each week.
- 100% compliance for payroll and Certified Payroll
- No assessed penalties for late payroll tax payments, missed Certified Payroll
- Supporting other staff in the accounting department
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Four or more years of work experience in Job costing or Construction
- Knowledge of payroll regulations including payroll taxes, certified payroll reporting, prevailing and union wages
- Knowledge of construction accounting software and databases
- Have excellent analytical skills and must be detail oriented.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to develop effective relationships with diverse group of people
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including: pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other excel functions.
- Fluent in written and spoken English. Bilingual a plus
