Senior Staff Accountant
Location: Cleveland, OH | Hybrid

A newly created opportunity is available for a Senior Staff Accountant seeking the next step in their career. Ideal for an experienced professional with a background in public accounting or auditing, this role offers the chance to establish new processes, drive efficiency, and grow into future management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute all necessary month-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow reports.

  • Oversee reconciliation of fixed asset general ledger accounts and depreciation schedules.

  • Analyze key accounts related to insurance, debt, and leases to ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Maintain daily cash activity records and assist in cash flow tracking.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies through periodic procedure reviews.

  • Maintain accuracy of general ledger accounts through routine reconciliation and adjustments.

  • Support external audits by preparing schedules and documentation.

  • Review IOLTA trust accounts on a monthly basis.

  • Prepare annual budgets for depreciation, insurance, taxes, and internal accounting expenses.

  • Identify and support implementation of process improvements in financial operations.

  • Assist in financial analysis and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

  • 2-7 years of experience in public accounting or in financial reporting, compliance, and audit.

  • Big 4 -or- Lage Regional CPA experience.

  • Solid understanding of financial statement preparation, month-end close, and fixed assets.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving ability.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Aderant and Sage is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, customer-service mindset.
