The Staff Accountant will be responsible for accounting and finance duties including month-end close journal entries , general ledger and bank reconciliations , fixed asset and leas e accounting , unclaimed property reporting, and other projects as assigned or required . This position is part of the Financial Reporting, Tax, and Compliance Team, and specific areas of responsibility may change as management assesses business needs and available resources.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end accounting functions, including journal entries and analysis worksheets to support month-end results.
• Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts.
• Prepare bank reconciliations.
• Handle fixed asset accounting, including maintaining capital expenditure request workflows, recording additions, disposals, and transfers in fixed asset software, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, coordinating with plant controllers and operations support leaders on capitalizations, and conducting fixed asset audits.
• Manage lease accounting by coordinating with a third-party resource to maintain leases in lease software, providing AP invoice coding guidance, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies, and responding to information requests.
• Perform property tax accounting, including accrual calculations and coordination with a third-party resource for filing property tax returns and responding to audits.
• Manage unclaimed property reporting.
• Assist with external audit and tax firm requests.
• Document and seek improvements for existing processes and procedures.
• Cross-train with other accounting team members to provide backup coverage.
• Participate in projects and support other financial reporting areas as needed.
  
  

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of accounting or finance experience.
• Strong understanding of double-entry accounting concepts, including transaction debits and credits and their impact on financial statements.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting strongly preferred.
• Ability to research U.S. GAAP and recommend appropriate accounting treatments.
• Proficient with computers and able to learn new software programs.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience working in an ERP environment, preferably Oracle.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
