About the Role:
The Finance Operations Group is seeking an experienced Accountant to join the team in its Warren, NJ office.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Prepare daily loss funding transactions and AP vouchers; address funding/banking issues as needed.
- Process journal entries to support monthly and quarterly closings.
- Organize and process quarterly accruals, reclasses, and adjustment entries.
- Perform/review monthly reconciliations and variance analyses for claim funding accounts.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations, including suspense accounts, in line with corporate timelines and policies.
- Maintain up-to-date TPA documentation and insurance certificates.
- Gain working knowledge of various claim/policy management systems.
- Build and maintain relationships with TPA contacts to exchange information and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with controls and procedures.
- Handle ad hoc requests and special projects as assigned.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and partner with Finance, IT, and Operations to implement changes.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- Several years of accounting or finance experience.
- Strong reconciliation skills (essential).
- Insurance accounting experience (preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including handling complex data sets.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with minimal supervision.
