Overview

The Accountant role will perform general financial accounting functions and provide support related to accuracy, recording, and analysis of Marc Fisher Footwear’s financial operations.

This position will report directly to the General Accounting Manager of the company and will be based out of our Headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut with the ability to work hybrid (3 days in office & 2 days WFH).

Responsibilities

  • Take a lead role in the daily bank reconciliation process using the Oracle Cash Management system and monthly ECOM reconciliations, including coordination with team members to reconcile all bank activities to the general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly Profit & Loss analyses, identifying key drivers of significant variances in sales, cost of goods sold, and major expense accounts.
  • Generate weekly reports for bank reporting and cash activity.
  • Reconcile financial data across multiple databases to ensure accuracy; communicate with relevant personnel to make necessary adjustments.
  • Prepare quarterly royalty reports for licensors. Including reconciliation of Sales, tracking deductions and calculations of royalties due to licensors.
  • Participate in the month-end financial close process, including preparation of assigned journal entries.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of intercompany accounts, cash accounts, and other assigned accounts.
  • Support external audits and assist management with special projects as needed.
  • Handle ad hoc requests and assist with special projects as assigned.

Backup Responsibilities

  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including tracking capital expenditures, analyzing CapEx budget variances, and updating fixed asset schedules monthly and annually.
  • Track and reconcile factor activity and balances on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Reconcile and record Accounts Receivable transactions.
  • Prepare weekly accounting reports for external partners.
  • Track daily ECOM cash receipts by brand.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
  • Strong team orientation and ability to multitask effectively.
  • 3+ years in Accounting (CPA a plus).
  • Computer skills: Advanced excel and work skills + Advanced skills are required.
  • Experience with retail and/or wholesale companies, a plus.
  • Experience with finance systems (Oracle experience a plus).
  • Desired but not require - Retail industry knowledge of factory finance operations, EDI, agent commissions, and sales tax and borrowing factors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written) on all levels of the organization.
