Position Summary:

The Fund Accountant/Senior Fund Accountant is responsible for supporting the Accounting team with various aspects of reconciliations and maintenance of accounting systems. We are looking for a professional who will take on an integral role in helping to manage and report on assigned client accounts in a timely and accurate manner.

The Fund Accountant/Senior Fund Accountant will work independently, and in conjunction, with members of Accounting team to resolve problems through the application of experience and judgment. They will also support efforts related to reporting and investing for our various funds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reconcile cash, investment holdings, and par amounts between Octagon and administrator records
• Maintain current accounting system with various data points such as Moody’s, S&P, Fitch ratings, spreads, etc.
• Assist with monthly data reconciliations between each fund and its administrators
• Reconcile monthly accrued income totals to administrator records
• Calculate and prepare daily performance reports for funds
• Assist in managing relationships and proactively meeting monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines
• Partner closely with internal stakeholders to provide data for pitch books, investor requests, and due diligence questionnaires
• Identify and execute on opportunities to improve team efficiency, mitigate risk, and enhance the client experience
• Support the development of technology-based solutions designed to improve internal recordkeeping, monitoring, and reporting capabilities
• Proactively take on ad hoc projects and provide support for new business initiatives, as needed

Areas of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of related work experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree required with relevant coursework in Accounting or Finance preferred
• Working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting for month, quarter, and annual closings
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical skills, and exemplary attention to detail
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Ability to multi‐task, be proactive, work independently, and work effectively under pressure
• Strong interpersonal, business writing, and organizational skills with ability to prioritize duties
• Comfortability interacting and building relationships with all teams (including senior management) across the firm and affiliated organizations
• Highly motivated, proactive team player with a positive attitude
• Outstanding reputation of professional integrity
• Exhibits a strong commitment to meet compliance obligations reflecting Octagon's core values of honesty and integrity; must accept responsibility for compliance in each role and comply with all applicable rules, regulations, and legal requirements
