Senior Inventory Accountant, Cost Accountant

Our goal is to transform the wireless ecosystem by simplifying the process for carriers and retailers to reward customers through comprehensive trade-in programs.

The Senior Inventory Accountant / Cost Accountant will be responsible for performing inventory analysis, maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers. The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of inventory accounting, including preparing recurring and non-recurring accruals, inventory reserve and LCM calculations, application of processing and repair costs, and account reconciliations.

The organization is transitioning its corporate office from San Diego to Dallas. This role, initially for 3 months, will require up to 75% travel.

  • Assist in documenting and maintaining inventory subprocesses, including identifying and testing relevant SOX controls.
  • Perform monthly accounting activities, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Assist in preparing monthly budget vs. actual variance analyses.
  • Collaborate with the Inventory Manager, other accounting managers, and staff to develop and operate standard period-end closing schedules and procedures.
  • Assist with inventory existence procedures, including wall-to-wall physical inventories and cycle counts at company-managed and third-party locations.
  • Monitor and track offsite inventory balances and sales activity, working with the Director of Accounting and the Innovation/Process Improvement team to develop tracking systems.
  • Work with the Director of Accounting, Operations, and Sales teams to streamline carrier settlement processes.
  • Develop and test new inventory reports in collaboration with the IT – Enterprise Reporting team, and assist with user testing.
  • Handle non-routine inventory transactions such as write-ups and write-downs.
  • Prepare LCM reserve calculations and supporting reports.
  • Assist with schedules and reports required by external auditors for annual financial statement audits.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • At least six years of experience as an Inventory or Cost Accountant
  • Experience in manufacturing, electronics, or distribution industries is advantageous
  • Understanding of GAAP related to inventory
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Access
  • Experience with SQL report queries is advantageous
  • ERP experience required, with a strong preference for Oracle
