Overview
A highly regarded and nationally recognized law firm is seeking multiple Estate Accountants to join their Private Client team. This group specializes in estate, trust, and tax matters for high-net-worth individuals and families. These roles offer remote flexibility for strong candidates nationwide, as well as on-site opportunities for those based near Philadelphia, New York, or Boston.
Location: Remote (U.S.-based) or On-site in Philadelphia, New York, or Boston
Compensation: $106,000–$170,000+ (Highly competitive – compensation is flexible for the right candidate)
Type: Temp, Temp-to-Perm, or Direct Hire
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review fiduciary income tax filings, including:
- Gift tax returns (Form 709)
- Trust and estate income tax returns (Form 1041)
- Charitable trust filings and Form 990s
- Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax (GSTT) returns
- State-specific filings, including PA inheritance tax returns
- Support attorneys in estate and tax planning tasks, including:
- Running projections for estate plans and interest on promissory notes
- Drafting estate planning flow charts and summaries
- Conducting analytical reviews and calculations
- Assist with client-facing matters such as:
- Communicating directly with high-net-worth clients and their advisors
- Managing tax issues related to individuals, partnerships, and corporate entities
- Providing input during IRS audits and coordinating the preparation of audit responses and exhibits
- Maintain deadlines and workflows through internal systems (e.g., File-in-Time or similar)
- Conduct tax research to support preparation accuracy and planning strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in fiduciary or estate accounting
- Experience with trust and estate tax software (e.g., Lackner, Lacerte, Number Cruncher, Tiger Tables, or similar)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
- CPA preferred, but not required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable interacting with clients and working collaboratively within cross-functional teams
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment Options
- Fully Remote (U.S. only): Open to top-tier temp talent regardless of location
- Hybrid / On-site: Preference for professionals located in or near Philadelphia, Boston, or New York for occasional client meetings or team collaboration
- Temp-to-Perm Pathway: Candidates open to conversion to full-time will need to be based near one of the three primary office hubs
