About The Property Accountant Role

We’re seeking a skilled Property Accountant to prepare financial statements, perform reconciliations, and support our residential properties’ financial operations. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you’ll ensure accuracy in monthly and annual reporting, collaborate with property staff, and maintain compliance with accounting standards. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional with full-cycle accounting experience, ready to make an impact in a fully in-office setting.

Key Responsibilities Of The Property Accountant

  • Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements with supporting schedules, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform bank and cash reconciliations, post journal entries for corrections, and communicate discrepancies with property staff.
  • Reconcile ledgers to trustee statements and monitor timely payment of bond-related fees.
  • Develop budget-related schedules, verify data, and provide detailed backup for financial reporting.
  • Process daily bank deposits, manage security deposit funding, and execute bank wires/transfers.
  • Respond to inquiries from Community Directors, District/Regional Managers, and auditors, supporting operations and training as needed.

Key Qualifications For The Property Accountant

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of accounting experience, with a preference for full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); Yardi experience is preferred.
  • Experience with bank reconciliations and accounts payable is a plus.
