Your Primary Responsibilities will include
• Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financials are accurate.
• Oversee staff accountant(s) and indirect reports, providing training, review, and day-to-day guidance.
• Support job cost accounting, project billing, and revenue recognition practices in accordance with A&E standards and FAR compliance.
• Prepare and review financial reports and variance analyses for internal and external use.
• Serve as a liaison with external auditors during financial and overhead audits.
• Document and help maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, HR, and senior leadership to support decision-making through accurate financial data.
• Support regulatory changes, process improvements, and cross-departmental initiatives.
• Provide backup support to the Controller and act as their delegate when necessary.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably managing direct reports in a professional services or A&E firm.
- Strong working knowledge of Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint preferred.
- In-depth understanding of GAAP, job cost accounting, and project-based financial operations.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills; able to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
