Senior Accountant
Department: Finance and Administration
Type of Position: Full Time Monday – Friday | Hybrid with 2 days in person

Position Description:
Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County is seeking a Full-time Sr. Accountant to join our Finance and Administration team. We are seeking a candidate with experience in the non-profit sector with exposure to real estate and construction to supervise work performed by the accounting staff.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and review work performed by accounting staff
- Review all month and year end processes and accounts created by accountants
- Create and produce the annual budget for the organization
- Oversee mortgage servicing, various grants activities including requisitions and reconciliation
- Maintain accounting system and make recommendations for enhancements and upgrades
- Monitor and maintain department and organization internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Perform compliance tasks for organization from quarterly reporting, annual training, and debt
- Assist CFO with IT related tasks and projects and with HR partner with respect to payroll, benefits, onboarding/off-boarding employees and compliance
- Maintain active compliance with Habitat for Humanity International, state agencies and similar organizations
- Process insurance paperwork as needed, review monthly department budgets prior to publishing
- Prepare bi-monthly financial statements for CFO & Board/Board Committee meetings
- Perform bank account reconciliations and review GL schedules created by accountant
- Assist in preparation of monthly and ad hoc financial reports and external reporting requirements
- Manage annual audit and tax preparations (form 990’s consolidation, quarterly sales tax and other returns).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in accounting
- Three years’ experience as Accountant required
- Experience as Accountant in non-profit sector with exposure to real estate and construction
Skills Required:
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (specifically Excel), including Vlookups and PivotTables
- Large accounting software including Fund EZ and Blackbaud Financial Edge
Salary Range: $129,350 annually
