Robinson, Farmer, Cox (RFC) is seeking a qualified Tax Accountant with 3+ years' experience for our Charlottesville, VA office. We offer a competitive salary ranging from $70,000 to $90,000, depending on experience. The role involves preparing accurate tax returns, ensuring compliance with taxation regulations, and providing expert tax planning advice to clients.

RFC, established in 1953, is a firm of Certified Public Accountants offering tax preparation, consultation, financial statement audits, and consulting services across Virginia through six offices. We serve governments, individuals, businesses, and non-profit entities, recognizing the unique needs of each client.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax documents by deadlines, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Analyze financial records to determine tax liability.
• Stay updated on changes in tax law and inform management of implications.
• Respond to tax inquiries from clients and regulatory agencies.
• Reconcile tax data and ensure proper tax accounting.
• Prepare tax provision schedules, reviewing and consolidating schedules.
• Maintain professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional societies.

Requirements

• CPA certification
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• At least 3 years of experience in tax preparation and accounting
• Proficiency with tax software and MS Office, especially Excel
• Deep knowledge of tax laws and regulations
• Experience with IRS audits and compliance
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Commitment to ongoing education and industry updates
• Experience with financial statement preparation and review
• Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
• Willingness to work additional hours during peak seasons
