Job Overview – Project Accountant (Construction):
Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000/year + bonus
Support complex billing and job cost tracking as a Project Accountant (Construction) with our client in Luzerne County, PA. Manage AIA billing, T&M invoicing, project setup, and reporting using tools like Procore and Sage. Collaborate with project managers to ensure accuracy of contract and cost code data, support ERP optimization, and handle job cost allocation, notarized invoicing, and unit cost reporting. Ideal for professionals with construction accounting experience and strong financial reporting skills.
Responsibilities
- Billing & Invoicing: Prepare and submit T&M, AIA, and custom client invoices to ensure timely and accurate billing.
- AR & Job Costing: Record receivables, reconcile monthly billing, and calculate project costs including taxes, insurance, and bonds.
- Project Setup: Set up customers, cost codes, and contracts in the accounting system in coordination with project teams.
- ERP Implementation: Support new ERP rollout by developing procedures and aligning accounting with project data.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate weekly Unit Cost Reports and review project metrics to flag and resolve financial issues.
- Compliance & Support: Provide notary services and assist with documentation to support internal controls and audit readiness.
Qualifications for the Project Accountant (Construction):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- Experience: 3-4 years of project accounting experience, ideally involving AIA billing, with prior exposure to construction or public accounting environments preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe/Foxit, with experience in Procore and Sage preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of construction billing systems, job cost allocation, and project-based accounting processes.
- Skills & Attributes: Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills, the ability to manage competing deadlines, and a collaborative, outgoing approach to cross-functional teamwork.
