Position Description


Since 2012, RWC Americas’ revenues have tripled and now make up over 65% of the company’s worldwide consolidated revenues; it expects to more than double those revenues through continued organic and acquisition means in the coming years.


The Senior Accountant will report to the Americas’ Assistant Controller and work closely with the Tax Manager and VP of Accounting. The role interfaces with members across many functional areas, primarily focused on supporting the dynamic needs of our business throughout the United States, Canada and China. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for various accounting areas including performing monthly close processes, internal and external financial reporting, internal control compliance, and budgeting & forecasting. The Senior Accountant will also serve as the administrator for the Avalara platform and be instrumental in developing and implementing improved processes to achieve more accurate and timely financial reporting that supports the overall business, providing a foundation for escalated growth and continued acquisitions.



  • Accurately calculate and post a variety of journal entries related to month-end including but not limited to cash, right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, trade and other payables & accruals, borrowings, current tax assets & liabilities, deferred tax assets & liabilities, other current and non-current assets & liabilities, etc.

  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.

  • Manage reconciliation of leases between SAP ERP and lease subledger system (i.e., Nomos One).

  • Assist with analyzing both the balance sheet and the income statement to ensure accuracy; perform variance analysis from budget, forecast, and prior periods.

  • Support Americas’ Assistant Controller, Tax Manager, and VP of Accounting as needed.

  • Respond to requests from leadership and prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as needed.

  • Identify potential efficiency improvements throughout the accounting function to increase productivity in the department.

  • Assist with weekly cash flow forecasting.

  • Prepare supporting documentation as needed for annual audits and other external agencies & firms.

  • Prepare and/or review monthly lease, property tax and sales & use tax payments.

  • Complete various tax data collection requirements to support Tax Manager as needed.

  • Analyze data and procedures for opportunities to improve financial controls and reduce cost to the business.

  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of ad hoc reports that will be critical in the assessment of various business decisions and investments.


Ideal Candidate Requirements/Attributes


The ideal candidate will be a passionate, high-performance individual with a demonstrated history of performing diverse and agile accounting functions in a manufacturing enterprise in a public company environment. The Senior Accountant will be a business partner with a grounding in policy compliance and fiduciary responsibilities. The role requires comfort working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, problem-solving, and the ability to work with ambiguity and autonomy. S/He will thrive as part of a high-performing team in a growing company and will use sound judgment with a sense of urgency. The Senior Accountant should be comfortable taking on new tasks while maintaining routine best practices, increasing documentation around procedures, and learning new ways of working as RWC continues to invest in its financial reporting and analytical capabilities. Strong communication skills are highly preferred. S/He must be willing to travel as needed (travel likely 15-25% annually).


Education



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Business Administration required.

  • Active CPA or CPA candidate preferred, but not required.


Experience



  • Minimum 3-5 years professional experience; accounting experience preferred.

  • Manufacturing industry experience and/or public accounting experience preferred.

  • Experience working in a fast paced, deadline driven accounting environment.

  • SAP software experience is preferred.


Specialized Skills



  • Intermediate to Advanced Level Microsoft Excel; xlookup, vlookup, hlookup, index/match, sumproduct, pivots, conditional formatting, subtotal, macros, hyperlinks, chart creation.

  • PowerPoint preferred; linking data from Excel into PowerPoint, able to visually show complex financial data in a concise format.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.
