Macdonald & Company are partnered with a privately-owned real estate investment and development firm focused on both residential and commercial land, who are growing their accounting team and seek to appoint a Senior Accountant.

The Role

The Senior Accountant will focus their time on corporate accounting within this growing real estate firm. With a small accounting department, they now seek a more experienced senior member of the team who will support others whilst helping to improve the month-end close process, amongst other process improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading the monthly close process for a portfolio of legal entities, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of financial data
• Compiling and delivering regular financial reports for investor and lender audiences
• Preparing and reviewing general ledger entries, as well as reconciling key balance sheet accounts
• Supervising internal accounting staff and coordinating with third party teams
• Assisting in the preparation of tax filings in collaboration with external CPAs
• Producing year-end financial statements in accordance with company standards

Desired Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required
• 3–5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably with a background in public accounting
• Familiarity with QuickBooks or comparable accounting platforms
• A working knowledge of real estate accounting, particularly the treatment of development-related expenditures
• Understanding of consolidated financial reporting and intercompany eliminations
• Proven ability to handle accounting for multiple entities simultaneously

Competitive base salary, performance bonus, and benefits package commensurate with experience.
