Job Description

Security Guards are utilized as a visual deterrent to crime and the criminal element. Security Guards shall maintain high visibility, answer routine questions for directions, and handle minor problems with courtesy and respect at all times.

Security Guards are expected to observe and immediately report situations to the appropriate personnel and/or emergency services via telephone, radio, or any means possible.

Security Guards shall immediately contact local law enforcement or emergency personnel by calling 911 (or 9-911 if calling from a state phone) in the following cases:

• Assault, burglary, robbery, vandalism, or any suspicious activities.
• A seriously injured or ill person, i.e., heart attack, stroke, or seizure.
• Fire or smoke.
• Any other conditions as identified by Client.

This Agreement will provide two (2) categories of Security Guards: Security Guard 1 (SG1) and Security Guard 2 (SG2).

Typical SG1 duties include monitoring the entry and exit of personnel at Client's facilities, inspecting facilities to ensure doors, windows, and roofs are secure, protecting state property, deterring theft by physical presence, making security checks, reporting unusual conditions, maintaining security logs, writing incident reports, and notifying appropriate personnel.

Typical duties of the SG2 are similar to the SG1 but require more technical expertise, including operation of complex alarm systems and other security equipment. Client may provide formal training for SG2 duties.

Work Environment and Schedule

• Work may be indoors or outdoors at client sites.
• Prolonged standing and walking are required.
• Open availability is needed for nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as directed.
• Various shifts and holiday work may be assigned.
