Description

Comunilife Inc. is seeking Security Guards for its Bronx Congregate location, Prospect Residence. The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and support of the program residence staff and clients. Responsibilities include maintaining safety conditions for staff and residents, protecting the facility, and working harmoniously with program staff in accordance with Comunilife principles and guidelines. The position requires coverage during nights and weekends as needed. Reports to the Program Director. The position offers participation in Comunilife's benefits and paid time off package after 60 days of hire. The pay rate for this position is up to $18.00 per hour.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor the front door for safety and security
  • Check all incoming/outgoing traffic of clients, visitors, and staff. Ensure clients sign in/out and hand in their keys. Verify that clients are not taking out program private property.
  • Maintain logs of traffic and incidents
  • Notify program staff and, if necessary, the NYPD of security violations
  • Secure, report, and dispose of confiscated contraband such as alcohol, drugs, or weapons
  • Patrol the building and outdoor areas periodically, including halls, stairs, and bathrooms, and report hazards
  • Clear public areas of loitering residents
  • Report violations of house rules to the Assistant Program Director
  • Attend required training and meetings

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma
  • 8 and 16-hour Security Guard Training Certificate; New York State Security Guard License
  • One to two years of security or healthcare experience
  • Experience working with homeless individuals, those with mental illness, or substance abuse issues is a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
