Covenant Living Communities is hiring: Security Guard, Part Time in Knoxville

Part of a nationwide family of Continuing Care Retirement Communities, Covenant Living is seeking a Security Guard. This position is responsible for the security of the campus, all campus vehicles, residents, and staff. Security responsibilities include patrolling the buildings and grounds and responding to all emergencies during the security shift.

In this role, the Security Guard will:

• Respond to emergency call systems.
• Evaluate the need to notify on-call personnel and follow designated procedures.
• Call 911 in emergencies and coordinate with emergency responders.
• Check and secure all security equipment and perform scheduled patrols.
• Secure all exterior doors in all buildings.
• Challenge any trespassers on campus property.
• Monitor vehicle traffic and enforce traffic policies.
• Familiarize with campus layout, equipment, emergency systems, and procedures.
• Know utility shut-off locations and fire detector panels, and understand shutdown and reset procedures.
• Write and distribute incident reports.
• Report safety hazards and submit maintenance requests via WorxHub.
• Provide emergency maintenance and housekeeping services as directed.
• Assist with non-emergency residential services that do not conflict with security duties.

The ideal candidate will have:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of security or related experience.
• Current state driver's license (CDL preferred) with a good driving record.
• First aid certification and experience in emergency medical situations.
• Ability to read and write in English and communicate effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills, friendly demeanor, customer service orientation, and ability to work with elderly residents.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Good observational skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions.
• For California residents, must hold a valid California Security License.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $14.23 - $16.95 per hour.
