St. Louis University High is hiring: Security Guard Part-Time in St. Louis

Help ensure a safe and welcoming campus environment by protecting our students, staff, faculty, visitors, and facilities. This position is scheduled for weekday hours, 4:00-9:00 PM, with occasional weekend shifts as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Provides a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors.
• Patrols and monitors an assigned area; reports suspicious activities to the Director of Security.
• Investigate, review, and report to the Director of Security, accidents, incidents and violations of law.
• Confront unauthorized persons for questioning and checking for passes and identification cards as needed.
• Escorts trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises.
• Ensure doors/gates are locked and opened at designated times.
• Supervise and patrol assigned school activities.
• After business hours, check doors and gates to ensure the property is secure.
• Direct traffic and parking on campus; check vehicles for proper parking authorization; determines if vehicles are parked in restricted areas.
• Contact law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
• Authoritative verbal communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of security procedures.
• Private security or public police experience a plus, but not required.
• Valid driver's license
• Must be able to obtain a St. Louis City/County Security Officer license.
• Basic First Aid knowledge preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to patrol the property and access areas quickly.
• Physically able to reach, climb stairs, kneel and squat.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk or driving and standing and/or walking.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to work in heat and cold.
